Design Dyna Moe is 'Mad Men' sweetheart
Posted on Tue Aug 4 2009 Before you tweet about how refreshing water is, or take that "Which house plant are you?" quiz on Facebook, stop. There's a way to feel socially connected and hip too, and you don't have to pour yourself a scotch and fire up a Lucky Strike for your 10 a.m. meeting. Illustrated by the multitalented Dyna Moe, MadMenYourself is a fabulous online collaboration of art and promotion. Touted as "a more infinitely complicated, high-tech version of paper dolls," Moe created every facial feature, piece of jewelry, article of clothing and beverage over two sleep-deprived weeks. The project came to life simply because she and Rich Sommer (Mad Men's Harry Crane) are friends. And what do talented friends who have other talented friends do? They collaborate on Christmas cards, of course. Then their fellow cast members make a few requests, you create a brilliant Flickr blog, and finally series creator Matt Weiner tells you he wants you to help promote the next season. So, how does Moe feel about the Internet world Mad Mening themselves? "I'm glad people like it and are having fun with it. ... It does have a certain hall-of-mirrors quality, signing onto Facebook or Twitter and seeing all these drawings that I didn't-do-but-I-did staring back at me." Now, upload your new avatar (that's me above), and get back to posting that snappy status update. Booze and smokes are optional.
